At Pedal England we want to make it as easy as possible to enjoy our beautiful country by bike, so our new See More, Cycle Less tour has been devised for those less confident on two wheels. Taking in the highlights of England – including Windsor, Oxford and Shakespeare’s Stratford, it is the perfect way to discover the wealth of heritage and glorious countryside Britain has on offer at a relaxed and leisurely pace.
Our new See More, Cycle Less tour does pretty much what is says on the packet – you’ll experience just as much heritage and visit as many cultural sights, with half the amount of cycling. You’ll tour the region cycling approximately 10-15 miles per day as well as enjoying parts of the route on our private bus.
Full of great British culture royal Windsor is the ideal place to start your time with us and get stuck into English life. It is probably most famous for Windsor Castle, the 11th century royal residence that towers over the charming town. The impressive Windsor Great Park and meandering river Thames give the town a relaxed yet dignified air. The park is also the perfect location to practice your bike skills and get used to cycling on the left before we hit the open road!
The tour also visits Oxford. With its sublime architecture and scholastic grandeur this bustling student city makes for a fascinating visit, and our walking tour is the ideal way to learn about the city of dreaming spires.
And of course and visit of England wouldn’t be complete without an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare place of birth is full of theatrical gems, with memorabilia of the great playwright all over town. And there is even the opportunity to watch a production of his work performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
This opulent stately home and World Heritage Site was once home to Sir Winston Churchill. A truly grand building, it dates back to 1705 and its grounds, designed by the Capability Brown, are just as impressive as the palace itself.
On our See More, Cycle Less tour you’ll be based right in the heart of the charming Cotswolds. Accommodation features staying in the tranquil villages of Burford and Moreton in Marsh. Both of these locations are famous for their enchanting rural beauty and rustic dwellings. With quaint thatched cottages and ancient architecture all around you’ll feel transported to a bygone age.
Although the surroundings may be charmingly traditional there is nothing old-fashioned about your accommodation. All the hotels and guesthouses on our tour are of the highest standard with all necessary modern facilities. Offering a wide variety of locally produced food and a warm welcome, our hotels’ hospitality is hard to beat.
Cycling is a wonderful way to see the beauty of Britain and we don’t want anyone to miss out on this great opportunity. And for the less experienced cyclist it’s an easy, enjoyable and fun way to see England at its finest. If you are looking for something different to do this year, a See More, Cycle Less tour could be just the thing.
