Stratford-upon-Avon Tours

Photo of Stratford Tours

Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, is steeped in culture and history. Set in the beautiful rural countryside, on the banks of the River Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK. On our Stratford Tours you can visit Shakespeare's houses and the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre which has a full programme of performances throughout 2009, such as the recent production of Hamlet starring Jude Law.

As well as the professional performances put on by the Royal Shakespeare Company, there are also many amateur groups performing a variety of events throughout the year.

Stratford-upon-Avon is still an important market town. Many of the original Elizabethan houses from Shakespeare's time are still in excellent condition including Shakespeare’s own childhood home on Henley Street. Together with the tranquil River Avon and characteristically wide streets they make Stratford-upon-Avon a delightful town to visit.

Stratford-upon-Avon is small in size but large in interest and history which you can explore on one of the local town tours while discovering the streets which hold many delights. As the Stratford tours take you down small streets, centuries stand side by side, while in others a whole century is mirrored as if time has stood still.

With a population of just over 20,000, you will experience on the tours that Stratford-upon-Avon is a thriving and busy town. You can enjoy the diverse mix of architecture from the original medieval town to the present day which gives Stratford-upon-Avon its unique atmosphere.
