The kids and I have not stopped talking about the trip since we have got back home. The weather was amazing and we are delighted to be the only family ever to get up all the hills. Thanks guys.

The tour had it all, even the thunderstorm was fun. Massive thanks to you Will and Simon for your patience and good humour. My cycling was not what it was! You will be glad to know I have made a conscious effort and 40 miles is no longer an issue! We have passed your details […]
We visit Windsor Castle, home to the Queen and Windsor Great Park. Here we will fit you with your bikes and ensure you are ready to cycle on the “wrong side” of the road! We visit Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare, and home to the Royal Shakespeare Company and its theatre. If you would like to see a production at the RSC we can organise this for you (bookings need to be made in advance however). On the way to Stratford the bus will stop off at the quaint village of Chipping Campden. We will then go on foot towards the beautiful American-inspired gardens at Hidcote before walking down a disused railway line right into the heart of Stratford itself. The afternoon is taken at your leisure, with further biking or hiking options available. Many, however decide an early finish is in order and return to the hotel by 4.30pm.
Total bike: 16 miles. Total hike: 3 miles.
The tour then winds its way through the majestic countryside of the Cotswolds, taking in some of the most well known towns and villages including Bourton-on-the-Water and The Slaughters to begin the day. We walk first today, through the beautiful Cotswold landscape and the villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.

We head by bus through the Cotswolds to the beautiful Cotswold town of Bampton, home to the hit show Downton Abbey (it is the village where all the outside filming is completed) before walking on to Kelmscott Manor, the home of William Morris, founder of the Arts and Crafts movement, where we will have lunch. The day’s cycling is flatter with less than 20 miles. We take all guests to Oxford by bus in the afternoon for a good look round the historical university town and a 5 mile walk around the stunning Port Meadow (given to the people of Oxford in the 11th Century), returning to Burford in the evening.
Total bike: 14 miles. Total hike: 7 miles
The bus will take us from Burford towards the beautiful town of Tetbury, home to Prince Charles. The morning cycle is relatively flat through pretty Cotswold, ending at the Cotswold Water Park where we stop for lunch. From the Water Park we visit to Highclere Castle (by bus), the famous backdrop to the hit show Downton Abbey. Tickets to Highclere sell like hot cakes and are only available from July – early September. Should Highclere Castle be closed we will walk around Tetbury and onto the Hare and Hounds Hotel.

We will take you to the Roman city of Bath. We will drop hikers off just outside the picturesque town of Lacock, and the others will cycle there (20 miles), and meet up for lunch. You can then cycle towards the iconic Stonehenge monument. (We do not ride all the way to Stonehenge as the roads are fast and dangerous – the bus will take us the rest of the way). Following the visit to Stonehenge we will drive you back to Oxford. We aim to return to Oxford by 5.30pm.
