Self-Guided 8 Day Tour 8 Day Highlights

For those of you who like to be a little more independent we offer self-guided tours. We remove all that pre-trip hassle by doing all the planning and organising, and then we set you on your way.

All self-guided tours are offered with GPS navigation systems, bikes from Giant and Ridgeback, helmets, maps. Luggage is transported between accommodation and paniers are provided to carry changes of clothes etc whilst on the bike. Our tours also come with full mechanical support which is always available.

In this self-guided bike tour you’ll visit many of Britain’s national treasures in 8 days/7 nights. The terrain is gently rolling and an averagely fit person will enjoy the long flats and a few short, sharp inclines. The routes are primarily on the public roads, but we pick the smallest and safest roads with limited traffic.

The picturesque Cotswolds countryside

FABULOUS Bike Trip! We were a group of friends who did great a great deal of research on which bike company to use and decided to go with Pedal England. It was a great decision. I can’t say enough about all aspects of the trip. The food and accommodations were wonderful, the biking was adaptable […]

Such a Wonderful Bike Tour with Pedal England That I Did it Twice!!! My tour this July was a terrific experience. In fact, I had done a tour with them in the summer of 2013, and I loved it so much I went back this summer, 2015. The countryside is stunningly gorgeous – one lovely […]

Oxford

The inspiring university city of Oxford, where you’ll get a chance to visit the colleges and learn about its rich history on a walking tour. The city is over 800 years old, with tranquil parks and stunning architecture, this scholastic venue makes a fascinating place to visit.

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace is in the little town of Woodstock.  Only eight miles from Oxford, Blenheim Palace is one of England’s most historic stately homes. The birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill is a World Heritage Site, with an illustrious history and – for the visitor – glorious vistas. Its vast parkland, landscaped gardens and tranquil lakes are stunningly picturesque.

Stratford-Upon-Avon

As you head for an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon, you’ll get a chance to learn about the life of the great playwright William Shakespeare. There is also an opportunity to watch a play performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company (booking in advance is required).

The Cotswolds

Experience the beauty of the Cotswolds. Its chocolate box villages are dotted amongst a patchwork quilt of fields and woods. This area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes for the perfect cycle tour. It’s a region that offers the ideal landscape for any cyclist, its byways and idyllic villages make touring a joy. There are also bridleways and country lanes which create a wonderfully scenic cycling experience.

Highclere Castle

This is a great day for anyone who loves the costume drama Downton Abbey, and even if you don’t know the show the sights can’t fail to impress. You’ll ride over to Highclere castle, home to the fictional Crawley family and the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon in real life. After that they’ll be a chance to explore the beautiful village of Bampton which was used in many village scenes on the show.

Bath

This city is overflowing in history and classic architecture. The Roman Baths are a fascinating tourist attraction with their courtyards, temple and pump room. Another of Britain’s great authors, Jane Austen, perhaps most famous for Pride and Prejudice, also lived in Bath. Since then, it has been used as the backdrop to film adaptations of her novels. Another must-see sight is The Royal Crescent, its stunning Georgian architecture has housed many famous residents over the years.

Stonehenge

The mysterious and ancient rocks of Stonehenge are one of Britain’s most treasured landmarks. This circle of prehistoric stones will leave you with a sense of wonder. Set in the truly beautiful Wiltshire countryside it makes a perfect stop on your cycle tour.
